Turbo Kart guide

Turbo Kart (极速卡丁) is a free, semi-3D kart racing game that runs in the browser on phones, tablets and desktops, with nothing to download. Race seven CPU drivers in a Grand Prix or a three-race cup, chase a verified time-trial leaderboard, or open a room and race up to seven friends live.

Game modes

Grand Prix (single race)

You against seven CPU drivers over three laps with item boxes. Classes are 50cc (beginner), 100cc (intermediate) and 150cc (expert): higher classes are faster and the CPUs race harder. Trailing CPUs speed up slightly and leaders ease off, so races stay close.

Cup

Three races in a row — Sunny Meadow → Canyon Run → Neon City — with points for every finish (15 / 12 / 10 / 8 / 6 / 4 / 2 / 1 with eight racers). Total points decide the podium; ties go to most wins, then most second places. Your best finishing position per class is remembered.

Time Trial

Alone on the track at 150cc with three boosts and no item boxes. Race your personal-best ghost, the leader's ghost or a friend's ghost, with split times showing whether you are ahead or behind.

Online battle

Two to eight players race live in one room, as a single race or a cup. See online races.

Drift tutorial

On first launch an optional ~45-second ride teaches cornering, drifting, charging sparks and releasing the boost. Replay it any time from Settings → Controls.

Controls

Keyboard, standard gamepads (Xbox / PlayStation layouts) and touch all work; the game switches to whatever you used last.

ActionKeyboardGamepadTouch
Steer← → or A Dleft stick / d-paddrag pad or arrow buttons
Accelerate↑ or WA / RTauto-accelerate (setting) or Gas
Brake / reverse↓ or SB / LTBrake
DriftSpace or ShiftRB / XDrift (hold, or tap mode in settings)
Use itemX E or CtrlLB / YItem
Swap to reserve itemQ or Cd-pad up / ViewSwap (up-left of Item)
PauseEsc or PStartpause button, top right

A kart stuck against a barrier for 3 seconds, or driving the wrong way for 4, is put back on the centre line with 1.5 seconds of protection.

Drifting and boosts

Items

Driving through an item box gives a random item. The further back you are, the more likely boosts and triple boosts become; the middle of the pack sees more homing shells and the leader mostly gets bananas. Boxes reappear 2.5 seconds after being taken.

ItemEffect
Boost / triple boosta 1.3-second boost per use; a triple boost can be used three times
Bananadropped behind you; whoever touches it spins out
Homing shellraces along the track and homes in on the next kart ahead

Two item slots: you can hold two items — the equipped one and a reserve. A new item fills the equipped slot first, then the reserve; with both full a box still breaks but gives nothing. Swap between them at any time, and when the equipped item runs out the reserve moves up by itself. The equipped item is shown top left, with the reserve in the small slot beside it.

A hit spins you out for 1.1 seconds, followed by 1.8 seconds of protection.

Drivers

Eight drivers with different strengths (each stat 1–5, every driver has the same total).

DriverSpeedAccel.HandlingWeightStyle
Blaze 烈焰4333balanced, leaning to speed
Pip 小芽2531quickest off the line, lightest
Volt 闪电3432acceleration
Tank 铁墩5325fastest and heaviest, wins collisions
Mochi 麻薯2352best handling, good for beginners
Shade 夜影4244speed and handling
Rusty 锈锈4423strong on straights
Frost 冰晶3343balanced, leaning to handling

Tracks

Each track runs three laps by default; cups race them in the order above.

Online races and friends

Time-trial leaderboard

A time-trial run uploads its full input replay, and the server re-runs it through the same physics simulation to check the time, so every time on the board was really driven. Only signed-in players appear on the leaderboard; sign in with a one-time email code (no password) or a Google account.

Install and play offline

Installed, it runs full screen without an address bar, which matters in landscape. After the first visit, Grand Prix, cups and time trials keep working without a connection or during server updates, and the home screen shows the connection state. Graphics have Auto / Low / Medium / High presets plus a 30 fps battery saver.

FAQ

Is Turbo Kart free? Do I need to download it?

It is free and needs no download: open kart.liuzhaohan.com and play. For full screen without an address bar, add it to your home screen to install it as an app.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser on iPhone, iPad and Android phones; landscape works best. Touch steering uses a drag pad or arrow buttons, and auto-accelerate can be turned on.

How do I play with friends?

Tap Online battle on the home screen, create a room and send the 6-character room code or the invite link. A room holds 2 to 8 players and nobody needs an account; the host picks the track, class, laps, items and a single race or a cup.

How do I drift and get a boost?

At speed, steer and hold the drift button (Space or Shift, RB or X on a gamepad, the Drift button on touch). After 1, 2 and 3 seconds blue, orange and purple sparks appear; let go for a 0.6, 1.1 or 1.7 second boost. The drift follows the curve of the bend by itself.

Can I play offline?

Yes. After your first visit, Grand Prix, cups and time trials keep working without a connection or while the server is being updated, and records are kept on your device. Leaderboards, friends and online races need a connection.

Are time-trial leaderboard times trustworthy?

Every run uploads its full input replay and the server re-simulates it to compute the time, so forged times are rejected. Only signed-in players appear on the leaderboard.

Which languages are supported?

Chinese and English; switch in Settings → General.
